BETTER BEANS
Our Guatemalan coffee is grown high in the volcanic mountains of central Guatemala, at heights of 4,600 to 5,550 feet. The coffee has a lively acidity and medium body, with hints of rich spices and pronounced fruit upon finish. All of Higher Ground’s coffees are Fair Trade, organic, and shade-grown.

FAIRER MEANS
Fair Trade certification enables the farmers who grow our coffees to keep their family-owned farms and benefit from economic and educational programs, while growing a great organic crop. Our coffees are also grown in the shade of the forest canopy—preserving ancient forests and natural habitat for innumerable species of plants and animals.

Fair Trade coffee production has begun to make a significant difference in the standard of living for member families in the Coops of Guatemala with whom Higher Ground works. Cooperative revenues have been used to:

• Organize literacy programs for community members.
• Provide members with basic and advanced training in organizational management, accounting, commerce, environmental science, and operations.
• Fund technical assistance in quality improvements and organic agriculture for sustainable coffee production
